I'm Benjamin Brockman, a Sydney-based director and award-winning lighting and set designer with over 16 years of experience creating work across Australia and internationally.

My practice is driven by a love of bold visual storytelling and the belief that design should do more than create a beautiful stage. It should challenge, provoke and deepen our connection to the stories being told.

​

Having worked on more than 200 productions across theatre, opera, dance and live performance, I've developed a collaborative approach that brings together strong artistic ideas, technical innovation and a willingness to push creative boundaries. My work has been recognised with three Sydney Theatre Awards and an Australian Production Design Guild Award.

More recently, I've expanded my practice into directing, exploring stories of identity, desire and the human body, with a particular interest in challenging conventions and reimagining familiar works through a contemporary lens.

​

Whether I'm directing, designing or developing something entirely new, I'm drawn to ambitious ideas, meaningful collaboration and making work that stays with an audience long after they've left the theatre.
